  • WHAT CAN YOU DO?
    • The “code of silence” that exists in many high schools is a barrier to preventing and intervening in cases of harassment and intimidation.
    • In order to deal with incidents in an effective manner, several conditions need to be in place:
      • young people need a trusted adult to talk to, someone who will listen to their concerns.
      • adults need to initiate conversation about what is happening at school.
      • young people need to know that they will be believed
      • they need assurance that reports will be acted upon and there will be follow-up.
      • young people need to be empowered with the confidence and tools to report.
